SLUT Talk
Embarking from Salt Lake City towards Colorado, Mike and Matt review some recent tasks, such as securing cargo, refueling, and grooming, and chat with a couple viewers about local cuisine and the NFL national anthem protests.
Hi, this is Mike George coming to you from camera B of our "stereo experiment." Feed A seems to be having some communication problems, so we’ll stick with this one for now. We are currently getting ready to hit the road from the West Valley Swift truck terminal in Salt Lake City, with those beautiful mountains in the background.
Matt:
We need some water, babe.
Mike:
I’ll get the water. You can just videotape my hands for everyone. Oh, look, Mark says I have a nice haircut. I actually found out I have 5 cowlicks — 2 in the front and 3 in the rear. I never knew my hair was so complicated until an Army veteran barber gave me a detailed analysis of my hairline. I’m just glad it hasn't started receding yet.
Alright, little safety moment: putting the seatbelt on. It's bright green so even I can't miss it. We are pulling out of this massive parking lot now. It feels nice outside, so we're opening the windows — just don't drop the phone out!
(Music begins playing: "You Learn" by Alanis Morissette)
This is the perfect time for the next segment: doing my hair in a moving truck using products sponsored by—well, not really—but I’m using Suavecito Pomade. It’s a bit of a challenge negotiating the forces of a right-hand turn while applying hair product, but we’re making it work as we get onto the I-215. I don't have a hairdryer, so we're using the natural surroundings of the wind from the window to dry it.
To summarize our Salt Lake City adventures: we had a lovely time at the salon yesterday. We also went to an amazing Mexican place called Red Iguana right off Temple Street. It was easily some of the best Mexican food I’ve had in years—the fried cheesecake was incredible.
Matt:
We’re heading toward the I-70 corridor now to make a delivery in Grand Junction, Colorado.
Mike:
I-70 has a special place in my heart; it was the first interstate I ever traveled on back in West Virginia.
Let’s invite a guest! Brian, you’re our first “Open Mike LIVE” threesome guest. Brian, what’s your take on the NFL players protesting police brutality during the national anthem?
Brian:
I fully support it as freedom of speech. They are using their notoriety to bring attention to important issues. While it might make some people uncomfortable, that’s often the point of a protest. People have the right to be offended or stop watching, but the players are facing the consequences of their speech in a very public way.
Mike:
Well said. We all have our own "matrix of privileges and oppressions" that define our perspectives. Thanks for joining, Brian!.
Now, let's bring in Johnny Wong. Johnny, what's on your mind?
Johnny:
I’ve been thinking about movies! I want to see the new It, Annabelle: Creation, and the Kingsman sequel. I actually just watched the original It for the first time. Tim Curry’s voice as Pennywise is iconic, though the movie is three hours long.
Mike:
We are stopping at a truck stop now to get fuel and wipe the windshield. I'm too much of a queen to go out there and help, so I'm staying here to talk to you all.
Matt:
We need to figure out where we’re eating later.
Mike:
We have to find a place with truck parking, which isn't easy. Maybe Denny’s? I am definitely not going back to that Dairy Queen in Scipio. The lady there was so rude — she tried to hold out on our second honey mustard packet like it was coming out of her own paycheck!
We’re passing a Chick-fil-A now. Oh, how I need a spicy chicken sandwich with Swiss cheese and extra pickles. But for now, we’re on a two-lane road that requires some concentration.
My battery is getting low, and we’ve been blabbering for a while, so we’re going to let the Facebook servers rest.
Matt:
You guys have a wonderful, blessed day. Remember, we’re all in this together—do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
Mike:
Take care of each other! Signing off.
