State Change
Mike provides a candid update while preparing to move out of Crimson House in Alexandria, during which he considers hosting a "RENT"-themed eviction party for himself. He notes the peculiar physics of water as it freezes and thaws, a concept unfamiliar to his Louisiana neighbors but known all too well by those in the Midwest during the winter.
Good afternoon, this is Mike George coming to you from Crimson House on what might be my last few days here in Alexandria. It's a beautiful day outside—honestly, it feels like t-shirt weather, which is crazy. I feel like I'm living in The Truman Show or something while the rest of the world deals with global warming. I just let my renter's insurance expire, so I’m really hoping we don't have any actual fires today!
I’m currently getting ready for a mid-afternoon trip to the recycling center, but first, I wanted to talk about a few things. Facebook has started this 'Stars' program where you can tip creators. I’m basically the drag queen in this scenario, and you’re the audience. If you want to help me reach my goal of 70,000 stars — which is basically the $700 I need for rent before eviction court —feel free to drop some! It’s like a Black Mirror episode come to life, isn't it? Capitalism with stars instead of coins.
Speaking of weather, I was just educating my neighbor on the fact that water expands when it freezes. It’s a concept that’s totally foreign to people down here in Louisiana, but those of us from Ohio and Michigan know it all too well. It’s that weird property of physics where cooling usually causes contraction, but water hits that freezing point and just decides to get bigger, wrecking roads and concrete in the process. There’s your science and economics lesson for the day!
I’m also thinking about having a Rent-themed eviction party. If I’m going to go through the stress of being evicted, I might as well get a good song out of it. Rent is one of my favorite musicals, and it feels pretty appropriate right now.
Anyway, I need to stop wasting time and actually get this recycling done so I can pay my AT&T bill and keep my internet alive. I’m going to head out now and listen to some Lady Gaga. Remember to take care of yourselves and each other. Peace!
