Silverado
Reporting from the streets of Portland, Mike grapples with a sense of isolation and homelessness, from which he tries numerous times to escape through music and socializing with others he meets on the streets.
It’s Mike George coming at you live from Portland, Oregon — right outside the acclaimed Silverado strip bar. It’s a Tuesday, so there’s not a lot going on, and to be honest, I’m just bored. Recording these livestream videos has become an addiction of its own; I enjoy the video diary aspect of this adventure, even if a lot of it is just narcissism. Can I get an amen for that?
I need to take a break for a second and put my stuff down. Usually, I’d indulge in a smoke right now, and you know what? I think I’m going to do just that. I’ve got to get my speaker out and start some kind of party. It’s hard to find a good block party these days; back in Montreal, it felt like you could just walk up the street and find one, but now we have to start our own. Of course, this stupid speaker is probably going to die on me, and I can’t even find the auxiliary battery in my bag.
Oh, hey Alan! It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood—let’s just see if anyone tries to ruin it today. I always feel like someone is trying to ruin my beautiful day. I’ve got to put my hoodie on, though. My hair is getting a little out of control and I’m very self-conscious about it — turns out, when you’re homeless, your hair gets less than ideal.
I’m sorry if this is boring, Facebook, but I’m trying to find a good song. David Collins, welcome to the show! You’re just in time for the musical number. Here’s a little Lana Del Rey: '
My cigarette burnt my finger 'cause I forgot I lit it...'
Actually, I can’t even sing along because I don't know the words. I’m bored of that song already; it was cute, but I’m more important right now. Just kidding! Nothing is more important than Lana.
But this next one? This is for the ex… All these Adele songs are generally for the ex
When the rain is blowing in your face...
I could hold you for a million years
To make you feel my love.
That song gives me chills to the core. I think we actually had an audience for that; I hope they liked it.
Well, I’m going to take my 'sad little Adele thing off my shawl now. It’s been fun. This is Mike George, live from Portland. Hopefully, this episode doesn't get taken down because of the music. Have a good day and take care of each other, y’all.
