A Pleasant Rain

Mike enjoys a rainy afternoon in Alexandria on the Crimson House patio.

Good morning, this is Mike George coming at you live from my home, also known as Crimson House. It is an absolutely beautiful rainy morning here in Alexandria, Louisiana. I was just checking the temperature, and it’s a lovely 23 degrees —which for those of you in "Fahrenheit land," is somewhere in the 70’s.

Usually, it only feels this nice for the first hour of the day before the humidity and sweat kick in, so I’m really soaking it up while I can. I’m actually standing out here wearing a hardhat because the water just sheens right off of it, though I’m still trying to figure out if my "purse" is within the hard hat's "zone of protection" so my electronics don't fry.

I’ve got my rainy day playlist going, and it’s making for a very peaceful, wet morning. We’ve got Rihanna’s "Umbrella" playing right now, so we have to indulge in that for a second. Ironically, despite living in Louisiana, I don’t actually own an umbrella. I’m having to use a broom as a prop instead. It’s a good safety reminder to get one before hurricane season, though an umbrella is probably pretty useless in a real hurricane unless it’s incredibly sturdy.

I’m trying to figure out how to mount this phone so I can get some proper choreography going without having to hold it. I think I’ve found a chair that will work as a makeshift tripod.

While I’m dancing, I’ve got to deal with this 5-gallon bucket. You don’t realize how heavy water is until you have a full bucket of it. The drainage in Louisiana sucks, so I’m just trying to find a good spot to dump this out.

Uh oh, it looks like I just got the "xnay" from the Facebook gods. Those copyright robots didn't take long to catch me playing Rihanna. Since I’m being flagged, I’m going to finish dumping this water and head inside.

If it’s raining in your neck of the woods, don’t slip and fall, and definitely watch out for lightning. Until next time, take care of yourselves and take care of each other.
