Troubles in the Air
Mike describes the ominous and strange atmosphere outside his home in Portland, implying the world ending imminently. Despite the gloomy conditions, he remains upbeat while troubleshooting his wireless speakers and reviewing recent lip sync recordings.
Hello, this is Mike George coming to you live from my home in Portland, Oregon. I’m safe and sound at home, and I’m going to play some chill music for you guys.
Let’s take a look outside. My room is a little bit of a mess—look at those high heels! "The dreams that you dare to dream really do come true". It’s hard to keep track of the days lately; I don't even feel like I exist on a calendar anymore. If you look outside, it just looks so ominous and strange right now. It looks "ominous as fuck" to me, and I can't help but wonder if the world is ending. It’s absolute madness.
I’m just in a good vibe right now, setting up my music so I can talk to you guys. It’s just me and you; these audiences are very small and intimate. I’ve been having some technical issues and troubleshooting the audio quality of these recordings.
t’s so frustrating trying to get Bluetooth speakers to communicate on the same system. As an electrical engineer who enjoys music, I’m actually a little bit ashamed of my audio setup right now. There is a lot of work to be done here.
Things are actually pretty good in Portland, despite it looking gloomy outside. I can’t even open the door, but I’m in a good place, and I hope you guys are too.
Hey, Tyler! How’s it going, buddy? How is Tyler doing in Columbus? I’m going to try to be ballsy and invite people to come on camera, though you’re probably at work. Hi, Patty! I hope everything is going well; you have to tell me where you’re at these days. I’m going to put my headphones on so we can have a more intimate style of chat because I have a feeling you guys are having trouble hearing me.
It’s been a good week. I did another fun Britney Spears dance, though I realize my lip-syncing needs a lot of work. I’ve received some feedback that the lip-sync numbers are "awful," but I’m just having fun.
I had a VP once who used the expression, "Never let perfect be the enemy of good." In this context, maybe we shouldn't let "good" be the enemy of "okay," because that performance was okay, but I had fun, and that’s all that matters to me.
I can’t even go outside to my favorite little spot right now. You guys are being a bit quiet, so I’m going to play with my snow globe until there’s something interesting to talk about. It seems like everyone is either at work or running away from fires this afternoon, so I’ll leave you to it.
